Not on your resume

Interviewers ask this question to get to know your personality and character, outside of work. This is your chance to tell them something that’s important but doesn’t fit into a standard resume form.

There are a few ways you can answer this question:

• Discuss one of your positive traits.
• Share a story or detail that reveals something impressive about you.
• Describe something you're passionate about.

NOTE: DO NOT repeat anything that's in your resume or cover letter. They already know that. Tell them something new.

USEFUL LANGUAGE:

• I’d like you to know [strength/anecdote].
• This is important because [explanation of what it shows about you].
• I believe this will help me with [aspect of the job] because [something that connects your answer back to the job].
