About me
I was born and educated in England but have lived in Sri Lanka for many years where I have been working on a charity project teaching English to students unable to afford classes. It has been both a highly rewarding and fascinating experience teaching students from many different cultural backgrounds. My classes have included students from China, Japan, Myanmar and Bangladesh who are often Buddhist monks and nuns who come to Sri Lankan universities to study religious texts using English as their common language.
I have five children. Two of them are still of school age. I also have two grandsons.
I am currently back in England where I now spend my time home schooling my youngest daughter, helping past students with their English, editing authors’ manuscripts and working as a publicist for authors.
Experience
I have edited non fiction manuscripts for publication. I have also done extensive work as a publicist and will be able to help edit advertising text or job applications to make them as powerful and effective as possible. I have also edited English literature, sociology, history and geography essays. I have some knowledge of medical terminology because the charity project I worked on also had a medical arm. I have also become familiar with some legal terminology because one of my daughters is a qualified lawyer and the other is a nearly qualified barrister and they have given me their work to edit.
