Transition words and phrases link ideas within and between sentences and paragraphs and make your text much easier to read and follow. Transition words and phrases show relationships between ideas such as sequence, cause and effect, comparison and contrast, additional information, and examples.

These words and phrases are normally used at the beginning of a sentence or clause. Look at the examples below:
