TOEIC Writing Part One

QUESTIONS 1–5: Write a sentence based on a picture

DIRECTIONS: In this part of the test, you will write ONE sentence that is based on a picture. With each picture, you will be given TWO words or phrases that you must use in your sentence. You can change the forms of the words and you can use the words in any order.

Tell the story you see in the picture. Who are they? Where are they? What's happening?

Are they friends? Siblings? What are their names? How old are they? What else can you think of to tell about them? Get creative!

Write an essay in which you take a position on the statement above. In developing and supporting your essay, consider instances in which the statement does and does not hold true.

"Civil disobedience" is when you break the law or social rules on purpose to bring attention to a cause (a principle or aim that a group supports or fights for) and push for change. People may be arrested when performing civil disobedience.

  • Is there a cause you think is worth being arrested for? What is it, and why do you feel that way?
